As per the current Vice-chancellor of the University, as proclaimed in the 2013 convocation, he wants to see

As on date, the University has about 86 departments, running about 96 programmes at under-graduate and post-graduate level. There are about 80 institutions spread across Delhi running under-graduate and post-graduate programmes. These institutions are governed by different mechanisms. Some are governed by Delhi Administration, while others are governed by Trusts, or directly by University of Delhi.
